Cello lessons in Bondi Junction

Give your child a musical foundation built on care and craft

One-to-one cello lessons in Bondi Junction with careful, classically trained teachers.

Is this what you're hoping for?

Your child draws the bow across the strings and something beautiful comes out — patient, expressive, theirs. They're learning to listen, to control, to stay with something that takes real concentration. It stops being difficult and starts becoming deeply rewarding.

That's what families experience at Avviare.

Meet your teachers

Patient, qualified, and passionate about teaching

Rachel Jeong, cello teacher at Avviare Music Academy.

Rachel Jeong

Cello teacher

Rachel is studying at the Sydney Conservatorium under Julian Smiles — one of Australia’s most respected cellists — and is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School. She’s performed with the Melbourne String Ensemble on their 2024 tour of Germany and Czech Republic, played solo on 3MBS radio, and taken part in overseas masterclasses with Peter Bruns and Martin Lohr. She’s attentive to the details that matter early on — posture, bow hold, tone production — and brings the kind of careful, patient teaching that the cello demands in its first stages.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What age can my child start cello lessons?
Children can begin once they are ready for focused one-to-one instruction and can physically manage the instrument size that suits them. The best next step is a trial so the academy can recommend the right starting point.
How long is each cello lesson?
Avviare offers flexible 30, 45, and 60 minute lesson options, depending on the student's age, level, and goals.
Do we need to own a cello before starting?
Access to the right-sized instrument is important for steady progress. If you are still deciding between renting and buying, mention that in your enquiry and ask for guidance.
What styles do you teach?
The academy is classically focused, with lessons built around tone, bow control, phrasing, and interpretation. That strong base also supports broader musical development over time.
Do you teach other instruments?
Yes! Avviare currently teaches piano, guitar, violin, viola, and cello. If you’re interested in a different instrument, just select it from the dropdown in the enquiry form.
